In 1996, Sepultura released Roots, their final album with Max Cavalera on vocals and rhythm guitar. 2 years later, Max returned with his own band Soulfly and their debut release, Soulfly. Both albums used tribal rhythms as their foundation. And both albums showcased their groove metal styles, but only one can be considered better than the other.
