Ep.122 - Accept Greatest Hits

For our first episode of 2023 we’re ringing in the New Year with the one and only Teutonic Terrors from Solingen, Germany, otherwise known as Accept. With 16 albums, we have a lot of songs to choose from. So Chris and I will pick our 15 favorite Accept songs and whichever songs are duplicated make the list. The ones that don’t will be debated to determine which make the final cut. Then we’ll arrange them in concert setlist order to make Debating Metal’s Ultimate Accept’s Greatest Hits. Today we are revisiting an episode we did 100 episodes ago, but we’re approaching it from a different angle. 2 years ago on Episode 18, we did KISS – Masked vs. Unmasked and we focused more on the music side of the story.  This time, we’re taking it from a more personal point of view. We’re going to look into the how’s and why’s of some of the decisions KISS made throughout their career and the consequences those decisions made. From developing their makeup, refusing to back down when other bands didn’t like their antics, replacing members, to taking off the makeup, re-energizing their career and then putting the makeup back on, it always seemed like KISS were on the brink of collapse just to rise again. On this weeks episode, the guys talk about band splits. Member turnover is nothing new in the world of bands and rock n roll. For one reason or another, be it ego, money, drugs, alcohol or any combination of said vices, not all bands stay together for their entire careers.  Some bands even have no original members.  But for the purpose of this discussion, we’re going to talk about the bands who members left the band, either fired or on their own and decided to start another band with the same name.
